Organic Foods

Everyone wants good, clean healthy food. Here in the US, we have the luxury to be somewhat ignorant about it – which speaks volumes about the availability and the quality of the food supply we have. The history of humanity is riddled with starvation, scavenging, going without, but in the US we don’t see that as a problem. In fact, there is a debate going on centered around the source of the food and how it is grown. A lack of scientific literacy in our nation led to people being i...

Writing sucks...

Posted on April 4, 2017 at 9:20 AM Comments comments (0)

…when you have nothing to say. Amongst the most common misconceptions about writing is one called “writer’s block” and it is supposedly describing a phenomenon where a “writer” is incapable of producing any material because he/she does not know the rest of the story. First, if someone is stuck in their ideas and incapable of coming up with a story line to write about, then they cease to be writers temporarily and become disillusioned non-participants in s...

Donald the 1st

Posted on February 16, 2017 at 10:35 AM Comments comments (0)

Satire is supposed to be biting, witty, elegant and point out absurdities in the system without explicitly mentioning the events it seeks to make fun of. For someone who ran on the motto of putting Americans back to work, Donald Trump, and his entire administration, is working hard to put people OUT of work - specifically, comedians who are engaged in the business of conjuring satirical skits up about the US Administration. After all, why do we need comedians to do their jobs, wh...

Something remarkable is happing on Earth that most people don't even know about. There is an activity that is constantly taking place, has been since the planet had formed proto landmasses, and will continue on as long as tectonic activity is a reality. Once the engine that drives the plate tectonics stops, the Earth will die. It will turn into a desolate, cold, uninhabitable place, and the liquid water most likely will freeze and congregate into huge polar ice caps, as it is on Mars, or turn in... Read Full Post »

Trump, you ignorant slut.

Posted on January 3, 2017 at 12:50 AM Comments comments (0)

Woke up this morning and the TV news was on - apparently forgot to turn it off last night. The anchor was talking about the president elect, Donald Trump - for a few moments I forgot the election is over and I thought, SHIT! I'm in the fucking twilight zone! Nope... reality... just have an orange haired orangutan for president elect, who is apparently too stupid to understand the idea that you don't give away the nation's nuclear secrets via Twitter to other countries in a fit of childish ego...

The New Year

Posted on December 30, 2016 at 11:25 PM Comments comments (0)

There have been a lot of famous people who died recently this year. That is sad news of course - but - nobody has talked about recenty of the 16,000 children, all under the age of 5, who died TODAY alone from entirely preventable diseases because they had nobody to care for them. This is not to negate the sadness society feels at the loss of a famous or profoundly important person. But we should, at some point, remember that for all the famous people who sadly passed away this year, over 6 mi...

Why Trump is dangerous

Posted on December 11, 2016 at 8:50 PM Comments comments (0)

Well, Friedman petty much nailed it in this piece. The problem with Trump is not that he is acting like a hysterical 5 year old, who got four scoops of ice cream instead of the 5 he wanted (although everyone else got none or got a half) and he thinks he can get...

Hey god! I'm calling you out...

Posted on October 15, 2016 at 6:00 PM Comments comments (0)

Do YOU believe there is a god? Can you prove it? When you pray, does god answer? What does he say? Does he have bad breath? Can god do anything he wants? Suppose he wants to make something that is too heavy for him to lift - can he do that? How about the future? Does god know the future? What if you have free will - can YOU do something unanticipated by god? Yes? Then how can he know the future? If not, and god knows everything, he knows everything you will do regardless of what you choose, t...

Why dogs matter

Posted on September 22, 2016 at 9:15 AM Comments comments (0)

It is Sunday again on the Western Hemisphere on Planet Earth. There are hundreds of millions of people crowding into buildings to commit an oxymoron. Talk to a deity about how they worship and admire him and proclaim they would be nothing without its love, while proclaiming they are created special and unique by said deity, and place themselves firmly at the center of the universe for such an action. Kind of like twisted groupies believing the band they admire and worship, would be nothing wi...

What atheists do on Sunday

Posted on September 9, 2016 at 12:40 AM Comments comments (0)

It is Sunday again. While billions spend their time in church, asking for forgiveness for being human, some of us are outside, marveling at the imense beauty and magnificence of the Universe.

I'm not a sin to be forgiven - I'm a human being. I don't need to be saved or converted, convinced or reborn, I was born right the first time. There are millions of us out there and we all wonder, are we alone? I say to all of you, who wonder and dream, who seek and imitate...

"Hey buddy"

Actually it is Las.

You called me Buddy - my name is Las.

"Oh, nice. What is that like some foreign name or something?"

Something like that.

"Hey, that's nice. But are you American now?"

What do you want, dude?

"I didn't mean nothing by it man, just wanted to ask you something."

"Did you know that Jesus died for you"

Well, I didn't ask him to...

"No no no, you don't get it. He died fo...

Its Sunday - do you know where your God is?

The fact that creationists have the gall to utter something along the lines of "science can't explain" and by direct extension imply that they have the answer through their deity to the origin of life, shows a level of ignorant arrogance, which if lack of knowledge was a physical ailment, capable of causing pain, these morons would be on the ground, rolling around in such debilitating pain that they would be begging for death to come. By definition, science is the seeking of answers - religi...

Im tired of the complaining

Posted on July 15, 2016 at 11:05 AM Comments comments (0)

I am getting tired of comments on social media of yet another frigging attack. People, who have seemingly lived under a rock the past few weeks since the last attack, are outraged that someone could do this. Where have they been the last few years?! Every time there is an attack, millions of people are shocked and there is much gnashing of the teeth and wringing of the hands, "oh, lawdy, how can this be true, in our little peaceful world, what tragedy and what inhumani...

The theory of average

Posted on January 12, 2016 at 8:50 AM Comments comments (0)

The problem with the world is that it never wants to do what you want it to do. The world has a mind of its own, so it seems. What it boils down to is human life is like the theory of average. There are 7 billion people on the planet - if everyone did whatever they wanted, there would be chaos - even more so than there already is. So we take all our ideas and we average them out and we ususally take the least objectionable and run with it. Sort of like the life of a photon. It is born in the ...

I didn't want to give a title to this blurb, but the system is forcing me to do so. So I picked musings - utterly unoriginal and borderline odorously noxious to the English language, but I can't think of anything else. But here are some musings. A few days ago I posted this on G+: The increase in the level of ignorance in an established society appears to be directly proportional to the increase in the belief in absolute infallibility and the perception of the reduced capacities of whatev...

Hi guys. I don't mean to cause a panick, but there are only 362 days left until Christmas! (As of today) You better start your shopping now before the rush!

But in the meantime, I hope in 2016 you get everything you could possibly want and none of what you deserve.

Happy New Year!

Why the plain book covers?

Posted on December 23, 2015 at 10:10 AM Comments comments (0)

Someone asked me this morning why my book covers are not more... elaborate. Why do I make them so plain? Why don't I put characters on them? I would get more sales, he said. There is a reason for my plain book covers. Take a look at them. The reason they are plain, is really simple. I am not selling the cover - I am selling the message inside the covers. I have never believed in the concept of having to sell someone on a bombastic story line, with a flashy cover, only to disappoint th...

Between the tick and the hard future

Today I took my dog to get a haircut. Her hair was so long, I could no longer properly brush it out. Since her hair grows very fast, I asked for her to be practically shaved - makes it easier to deal with it and living in Florida she appreciates the fact that she doesn't have to feel like she has a 2000 degree coat on her. But after I picked her up, I noticed on her back there is some sort of a bug embedded into her skin. Every month I put the flea and tick medicine on her, but apparently thi...

If a Martian were to exist and he/she/it would visit the planet Earth, after walking into a store that sold books that Martian would conclude one thing. We as a species, based on the number of trashy, badly written romance novels being churned out by the millions, we all need to get a good roll in the hay because we are obsessed with fake "romance". We are all backed up! The population of Earth is entangled into one, huge, inescapable story that for some reason resembles Pretty Woman in si...

Christmas Shopping

Posted on December 16, 2015 at 8:55 AM Comments comments (0)

I love Christmas. It is the perfect season. All the traditions, eating turkey... And getting 15% off all the crap I never thought about buying before but since seeing the glowing coupon in the store window now I realize I desperately need! I never knew how much practice it takes to use an ear and nose hair trimmer without feeling like a really tiny person is torturing me from the inside out with a blowtorch. Or, the intricacies of using a back scratcher without the aide of a mirror. Or t...
